Brief Profile

Has done MBBS and MD (SPM) from Nagpur University. Previously worked as Assistant Professor for 4 years in Indira Gandhi Medical College Nagpur. Joined this institute as Scientist C in 2006. Presently working as Scientist F in the Public Health Nutrition Division, NIN, Hyderabad. Areas of interest are public health nutrition, nutrition of under 5-year children, Infant & Young Child feeding practices, nutrition of adolescent girls and pregnant & lactating women, micronutrient deficiency among population, nutrition related chronic non- communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes etc. Has written and completed more than 30 projects of which 8 as principal investigator (PI). Had published 80 articles related to nutrition in various national and international peer reviewed journals of which 30 paper as first author, 4 papers as corresponding authors and remaining as co-authors. Published 5 articles in book chapter. Had worked in tribal areas of north-eastern states on nutritional status of women and children and prevalence of HTN & diabetes and bio-diversity. Guided many MSc first year students for their dissertation. Attended and presented papers in National and international conference. Invited speakers for diabetes and cardiology conferences. Act as chairperson for NSI and IAPSM conference at NIN Hyderabad Faculty for MSc Applied nutrition and PG certificate course at NIN. Involved in nutrition intervention project to improve nutritional status of vulnerable population and also in hypertension risk reduction project funded by ICMR. Involved in recruitment, training, execution of survey and data analysis and report writing. Written and published more than 100 technical reports. Was part of ICDS and MDM evaluation in many states.
